During the holidays, I love all the baking that is happening and seeing creative and familiar recipes. For this week recipe, I’m bringing you a classic brownie recipe with an elevated twist that’s perfect for the holidays.

What you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup of butterscotch sauce
- 1/4 cup of chopped almonds or walnuts (this is totally optional)
- 1/4 cup of gold sugar (I got mine from Wilton)
Directions:
- Combine butter with sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
- Add baking powder and flour and mix until combined.
- Spread into a greased or lined 9×9 pan and bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes until brown. Let cool before cutting into 16 small or 9 large squares.
- Once the brownies are cooled, spread the butterscotch sauce on top, add chopped almonds or walnuts and sprinkle gold sugar/sprinkles on top to give it an elevated touch.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did making it! It’s simple, creative, and a great recipe to start out baking with. Have a great weekend loves, and I’ll see you Monday with my second gift guide instalment!
