During the colder months, I like to experiment with hot drink recipes and elevate them with easy ingredients to make those cold nights at home, a little cozier.

What you’ll need:
- Coffee of your choice (I used espresso from Starbucks), make sure it’s HOT.
- 2 teaspoons of raw sugar.
- 20 ml of dark rum (I used the infamous Newfoundland Screech Rum).
- 20 ml of gold rum.
- A pinch of cinnamon, or a cinnamon stick for aesthetic and for the cinnamon flavour to slowly breathe through the coffee.
- Orange zest.
- Dark chocolate shavings (I used the salted caramel chocolate from Lindt).
- Whipped cream of your choice.
How to make it (Only consume this if you’re 19+/21+ years of age, of legal drinking age):
- Use a heatproof glass mug (to show off the final look, and to impress your guests), and stir in the coffee and raw sugar, until the sugar is dissolved.
- Stir in both rums.
- Add in the cinnamon into the body of the coffee and rum.
- Garnish with whip cream, chocolate shavings, orange zest and another dash of cinnamon (or nutmeg).
Then snuggle up with this drink that’s sure to warm your soul. After I made this drink, I watched a classic movie while the cold rain fell outside.

What’s a favourite drink of yours in the colder months? Coffee with Baileys cream is another drink I reach for whenever I want a change for a cold weekend treat, but this weekend I’ll be enjoying this recipe before the grind starts again on Monday, until then have an amazing weekend.
