The parties are winding down, the decorations are being put away and we’re officially into 2018!
During the first week of a new year, we always feel the determination to start our year fresh and better than the last with a new found perspective after having a new opportunity to start again. As the year starts, I take the time to do 3 things that set me up feeling amazing to tackle whats ahead in the new year.
Write It Down, Visualize it.

As I’ve gotten busier, it’s forced me to become more organized in my professional life (which has lead to organization into my personal life as well). The best way that works for me, is to write everything down and visualize it. I like to write down my goals and organize the first two months of the year during the week in between Christmas and New Years Eve to feel ready to go into the year. My favourite planner is from Day Designer, they use worksheets in the front of the planner to set your intentions for the year. I also use Pinterest to make a vision board of what the overall theme I want for my year to be- I specifically use these two tools, because I’m able to access them everywhere and make any changes if I want to so it keeps me in check and reminded all year of my goals.
Tidy up.

Out of all my goals and prepping for 2018, tidying up and staying on top of my living space reduces a lot of stress. I live in a condo, which means a small space, and it can pile up quickly. Throughout the week, I usually do a quick sweep of my most used areas and then do a full clean on the weekends- and it feels amazing. Don’t get me wrong, when I first start to tackle it, I hate it. But, when everything is finished, I feel like a weight has lifted off my shoulders. Before I travel, a new year or new season begins, I like to deep clean and organize everything that works for me at that time of my life.
Make Healthier Choices.

This is always a no-brainer when it comes to the new year- it’s on the top of everyone’s list. But, it’s much easier said than done and can be done in a lot of different ways. It’s not just exercising (which should be a priority for everyone), it’s how you nourish yourself through food, self-care, relationships and travel. This year, I’m making more of an active effort towards my fitness, relationships and self-care. I’m going to be dancing more, and taking care of my health (mentally and physically). One of the biggest things I’m going to do to keep this balanced and going, is to keep myself accountable. There are times when people need to be pushed to do something, but by registering for classes and choosing healthier options that are pre-set will help me be accountable. If you need a jump start on making those choices, consider services that are preset like Hello Fresh, FitBox, or other subscription boxes and services. I also like to stock up and keep skincare products that make me feel at my best, or use them whenever I need a pick me up– I purposefully choose certain products that I’m able to take on the go when I need to feel more focused and refreshed.
What are some ways you’re prepping for the year? I love hearing your thoughts on what I post!
